Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Data Centre Electrician in Exeter to perform preventative maintenance, electrical projects and reactive works across critical electrical systems.

You will diagnose faults, test systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards while coordinating with sub-contractors and maintaining accurate records. The role requires formal electrical qualifications, adherence to BS7671 18th edition and the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical qualification required, BS7671 18th edition regulations (amendment 3).
• Experience with testing and inspection procedures (2391).
• Ability to obtain full Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Data Centre Electrician

This role is for a hands-on working electrician to carry out:

• Planned preventative maintenance
• Electrical projects
• Electrical extra Works
• Reactive and breakdown works across all electrical systems

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all electrical plant, equipment, and systems in accordance with task schedules and asset lists.
• All reactive tasks throughout the building are completed, proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, replacing faulty components and/or wiring.
• Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and regulations.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant building regulations and safety standards
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, tests, and repairs.
• Ensure electrical plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain all year up time.
• Ensure RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to always ensure safe working practises.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractor works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance/fixes, keeping them honest. Ensuring permits and RAMS are adhered to.
• Ensure that all critical areas, under the responsibility of CBRE, are locked and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Understand the business systems, processes and procedures associated to the site.
• Ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
• Highlight gaps across the critical spares to the operations manager.
• Build and develop relationships with all on-site CBRE staff, sub-contractors, and client representatives.
• Ensure the professional image of CBRE is always presented to the client and sub-contractors.
• Undertake lone working where required.
• Participate in EOP/SOP scenario type training and undertake technical assessment tests.
• Undertake other tasks directed by the account management team.

Skills

• Formal electrical qualification, BS7671 18th edition regulations (amendment 3) and City and guilds 2391 test and inspection.
• Good communication etiquette.

• Calm manner, able to work under pressure and make sound decisions when needed.
• Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20kg.

• Actively identify and implement innovation across the contract to enhance performance and continue to exceed the client’s expectations.
