Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Electrical Engineer to maintain and enhance critical electrical infrastructure across a portfolio of commercial properties in Greater London. You will perform PPMs, address faults, and ensure safety, reliability and energy efficiency at client sites.

The role focuses on safe isolation, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with contractors and clients. This is a hands-on position with potential project leadership depending on seniority.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent required.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems in commercial/industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution boards, lighting, and plant rooms.
  • Ability to follow safety and permit-to-work procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and address reactive tasks on electrical systems.
  • Diagnose issues and implement repairs to restore performance.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and conduct inspections.
  • Coordinate specialist contractors and uphold safety standards.
  • Contribute to energy-saving initiatives and site optimisation.
  • Maintain records in CAFM systems and follow QHSE procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and clients to deliver service.
  • Lead electrical projects or design infrastructure for senior roles.

The Opportunity

As an Electrical Engineer at CBRE, you'll be at the heart of maintaining and enhancing critical infrastructure for a diverse portfolio of commercial properties. What You'll Do
  • Perform comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and swiftly address reactive maintenance tasks across a variety of electrical systems, including distribution boards, lighting, power outlets, and vital plant equipment.
  • Diagnose complex electrical issues and execute repairs to maintain peak operational performance.
  • Ensure rigorous statutory compliance and conduct thorough inspections, keeping our facilities safe and up to code.
  • Oversee and coordinate specialist contractors, upholding CBRE's stringent quality and safety standards.
  • Contribute to energy-saving and optimisation initiatives, playing a key role in our commitment to sustainable site operations.
  • Maintain meticulous records using Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems and adhere to all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (QHSE) procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow engineers, stakeholders, and clients to deliver exceptional service and foster strong relationships.
  • Depending on the role's seniority, you may also lead electrical projects, develop and implement innovative electrical systems, and design critical infrastructure such as fire alarm systems.
What We're Looking For
  • A recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Relevant certification, such as the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, distribution boards, lighting, and associated plant rooms.
  • A solid understanding of safe electrical isolation procedures and permit-to-work processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety practices and risk assessment requirements.
