Job summary

Mitie is seeking a reliable Electrical Maintenance Operative to support installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across various sites in Crawley. You will work independently and as part of a team, delivering planned and remedial works on time while following health and safety rules.

The role involves 40 hours per week (8–5, Mon–Fri) with a focus on safe, compliant electrical work, reading technical drawings, and coordinating with trades.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant and controls.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and procedures.
• Self-motivated, well organised, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Complete electrical installations and assist tradespeople with wiring and calibration tasks.
• Carry out testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and updates to maintenance work orders.
• Use test equipment and tools, understanding their limitations.

The role involves working independently and collaboratively to deliver planned and remedial works on time, while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.

Role Responsibilities

• Complete electrical installations and assist tradespeople with wiring, calibration, and alignment tasks.
• Carry out testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and updates to maintenance work orders.
• Use appropriate test equipment and tools, understanding their limitations.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures — no live working permitted.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and attend toolbox talks.

Required Qualifications:

• Qualified to BS 7671, 18th Edition, in Electrical Installations.
• Level 3 qualfication in electrical.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant, and controls.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and procedures.
• Self-motivated, well organised, and eager to learn.
• Respectful, professional, and confident in raising safety concerns.
