Job summary

JTL Training in London South (Orpington) is seeking a Workshop Instructor to lead and assist hands-on electrical and plumbing workshops, ensuring tools and resources are safe and ready for practical learning. You will work with Tutors and delivery colleagues to support high-quality workshop activity and apprenticeship training.

You will bring Level 2/Level 3 Electrical Installation certificates, BS 7671 knowledge, and experience coaching others.

Qualifications

• It is essential to hold Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation certificates or equivalent.
• Evidence of BS 7671 knowledge and electrical industry experience is required.
• Practical experience with electrical tools, equipment and safe working practices.
• Experience coaching, instructing or demonstrating practical skills to others.
• Strong communication, IT and organisational skills, able to work independently or in a team.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for workshop/centre visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain electrical/plumbing workshops and materials for safe teaching.
• Provide technical and practical support to Tutors during sessions.
• Maintain workshop stock, test instruments and calibration.
• Promote safe working practices and COSHH/health and safety records.
• Support apprentices with demonstrations and guided activities.
• Deliver apprenticeship content and short courses using standard curriculum.
• Assist with assessment preparation and AM2S readiness where needed.
• Provide constructive feedback to learners and managers.
• Occasionally provide short-term teaching cover at other JTL centres.
• Keep up-to-date technically through CPD and development.
