Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or Modern Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day testing activities of the team, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Lead fault-finding and complex testing on rolling stock or vehicles.
  • Coordinate testing within the department and monitor performance against targets.
  • Manage resources, allocate work and schedule shifts to maximise productivity.
  • Carry out on-board testing on test trains prior to release into service.
  • Coach and develop team members; conduct toolbox talks and briefings.
  • Ensure documentation, test reports and records are accurate and timely.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lean initiatives within the team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and ensure compliance with policies.

Electrical Testing Team Leader

Salary: £43,100 - £51,720 including 20% shift allowance and overtime is available.

Shift pattern: Will be an alternating shift pattern 6am -14.00pm /2pm-22.00pm including some weekend work.

Location: PLESE NOTE This role is based in Newport, Wales.

Our client is highly successful in the rail industry and is currently recruiting for 2 experienced Team Leaders to join their growing and successful company in Newport, Wales, You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the testing team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. The role involves Electrical fault finding, as well as leading, motivating and developing team members, managing resources, meeting production targets and supporting continuous improvement. Previous experience is essential, must have worked within a similar role within Rolling stock or the Automotive industry.

This role would be ideal for an experienced Team Leader looking to progress their career within a dynamic and growing company. It would also suit someone who has previously stepped up to cover a Team Leader position and is now ready to take the next step into a permanent leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical fault finding on rolling stock / vehicles.
  • Lead and coordinate testing activities within the department.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and within required timescales.
  • Carry out on-board testing on test trains prior to release into service.
  • Undertake complex testing, fault-finding, troubleshooting, repairs and quality checks.
  • Ensure all work meets required safety, quality and production standards.
  • Complete test reports, records and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure targets and objectives are achieved.
  • Allocate work and resources effectively to maximise productivity.
  • Conduct team briefings and toolbox talks and communicate work priorities clearly.
  • Train, coach and mentor team members, supporting their development and competence.
  • Participate in employee induction and ongoing training.
  • Assess team members competence where required.
  • Promote continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure machinery, equipment and plant are maintained, and safety checks are completed.
  • Report equipment faults, breakdowns and other issues promptly.
  • Ensure sufficient materials, equipment and resources are available.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Promote safe working practices within a safety-critical environment.
  • Support other teams and departments as required.
  • Act as First Aider and/or Fire Marshal where required.
  • Liaise with management regarding staffing, resources, workload and training requirements.
