Job summary

TEC Partners - Technical Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Electrical Test Engineer for a well-established Control Systems Engineering and Manufacturing business. You will test control panels and LV switchgear before factory exit, and support projects through commissioning on site.

The role involves FAT planning, SAT support, fault finding, and delivering test records and documentation. Occasional UK travel and onsite work are required, with a 40-hour week and opportunities for

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or apprenticeship/equivalent experience.
• Experience testing control panels, switchgear or industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (EPLAN/AutoCAD exposure helpful).
• Strong fault-finding skills and PLC/HMI experience.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and functional testing of control panels, MCCs and LV switchgear.
• Perform insulation resistance, continuity, earth bonding and high-voltage/flash tests.
• Check panel builds against electrical schematics, panel layouts and specifications.
• Conduct I/O checks and support PLC/HMI testing and validation.
• Plan and lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers.
• Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and fault finding.
• Produce test records, inspection reports, certification and technical documentation.
• Identify and resolve wiring and build issues, and feed findings back to design and production teams.
• Make sure equipment complies with UKCA/CE requirements. UL 508A knowledge would be an advantage.
• Liaise with customers, engineers and subcontractors throughout projects.
• Provide post-installation technical and call-out support.
• Occasional UK travel and overnight stays.

Job description

Our client is a well-established and growing Control Systems Engineering and Manufacturing business. They deliver electrical, automation and control solutions across a range of industrial sectors.

They are looking for an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join their team. You'll be responsible for testing control panels and LV switchgear before they leave the factory, and supporting projects through commissioning on site.

About You

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, a relevant apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience testing control panels, switchgear or industrial electrical equipment.
• Confident reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (EPLAN/AutoCAD exposure useful).
• Strong fault-finding skills.
• Experience with PLC/HMI systems and commissioning.
• Knowledge of LV switchgear, control panels and relevant standards (BS EN 61439 / BS 7671).
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

18th Edition, UL 508A, PLC programming and pneumatic systems experience.
