Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business to recruit an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician for its production team. The role focuses on building, wiring and testing complete electrical systems prior to commissioning.

You will read schematics, work with DOL/VFD configurations and support electrical installation and improvements across the site, collaborating with mechanical, controls and production teams to ensure safe, high-quality

Qualifications

• Proven experience in machine wiring and electrical assembly.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring schematics.
• Practical experience with control devices, drives, sensors and motors.
• Knowledge of DOL and VFD configurations.
• Experience fault-finding electrical systems during build and testing.
• Ability to work across workshop and site electrical support.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Wiring complete machine electrical systems, including sensors, motors, actuators and interconnects.
• Carrying out functional testing, I/O checks and basic electrical fault-finding.
• Verifying signal paths and confirming safe operation prior to software upload and HMI integration.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, layout drawings and BOMs.
• Supporting electrical installation work, including lighting circuits, distribution boards and equipment upgrades.
• Assisting with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects.
• Working closely with mechanical, controls and production teams during machine build and system integration.
• Supporting cable routing, equipment alignment and electrical system integration.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and quality.

Job description

A well-established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join its production team.

This is a hands-on role focused on the electrical assembly, wiring and testing of complex industrial machinery, with opportunities to support wider electrical installation and improvement projects across the site.

The Role

As an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician, you will be responsible for building, wiring and testing complete electrical systems prior to commissioning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Wiring complete machine electrical systems, including sensors, motors, actuators and interconnects
• Carrying out functional testing, I/O checks and basic electrical fault-finding
• Verifying signal paths and confirming safe operation prior to software upload and HMI integration
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, layout drawings and BOMs
• Supporting electrical installation work, including lighting circuits, distribution boards and equipment upgrades
• Assisting with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects
• Working closely with mechanical, controls and production teams during machine build and system integration

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience in machine wiring, electrical assembly or industrial electrical work
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics
• Practical experience with control devices, drives, sensors and motors
• Knowledge of DOL and VFD configurations
• Experience fault-finding electrical systems during build and testing
• Ability to work confidently across both workshop-based assembly and site electrical support
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Electrical installation experience within an industrial, commercial or domestic environment
• 18th Edition or equivalent electrical qualification
• Exposure to PLC/HMI systems, automation or drive commissioning
• Experience with food processing machinery, process equipment or OEM manufacturing
• Experience working with bespoke or low-volume machinery
