Job summary

MarkMay is seeking an Electrical Testing, Inspection & Remedials Engineer to perform EICRs and remedial works in domestic properties and communal areas, primarily for Local Authorities and Social Housing clients. The role emphasizes compliance with current regulations, site safety, and accurate reporting using PDA/handheld devices.

Ideal candidates will have NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, 18th Edition, and 2391 or equivalent, with strong fault-finding and customer service skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out EICRs and remedial works in domestic and communal environments.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
• Complete work in accordance with BS 7671 and NICEIC best practice.
• Accurately risk assess working environments and manage site safety.
• Complete jobs within target times while maintaining high quality.
• Carry out fault finding and demonstrate understanding of electrical circuits.
• Keep vehicles stocked to maximise first-time fix rates.
• Complete reports and certification using a PDA/handheld device.
• Liaise with customers, clients, supervisors and staff.
• Wear company uniform and represent the business professionally.
• Report safeguarding concerns via Code 4 system.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of company vehicle.
• Dispose of waste per company policies and environmental procedures.
• Participate in training and development as required.

Role Purpose:

The Electrical Testing, Inspection & Remedials Engineer is responsible for carrying out electrical inspection, testing, and associated remedial works within domestic properties and communal areas, primarily for Local Authorities and Social Housing clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and associated remedial works in domestic and communal environments
• Ensure all works comply with current Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
• Complete all work in accordance with BS 7671 and NICEIC best practice
• Accurately risk assess working environments and manage site safety
• Complete jobs within agreed target times while maintaining high-quality standards
• Carry out effective fault finding and demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical circuits
• Ensure vehicles are fully stocked to maximise first-time fix rates
• Complete electronic job reports and certification using a PDA or handheld device
• Liaise professionally with customers, clients, supervisors, and administrative staff
• Wear company uniform at all times and represent the business in a professional manner
• Report any safeguarding concerns or vulnerabilities via the companys Code 4 system
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of company vehicle
• Dispose of waste in line with company policies and environmental procedures
• Participate in training and development as required

Skills & ExperienceEssential:

• Proven experience in electrical testing and remedial works within domestic properties
• Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and compliance standards
• Ability to fault find and diagnose electrical issues efficiently
• Competent IT skills, including electronic certification and reporting
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable:

• Experience working within Social Housing or Local Authority environments
• Familiarity with compliance-driven contracts and KPI-led performance
