Qualifications

• Electrically qualified and competent to manage engineering activities.
• Experience in fault diagnosis on motors and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Help us make a difference as a Shift Electrical Technician at our West Sussex MBT/AD facility.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday with 1 out of 4 Saturdays.

• Week one: 06:45 - 14:45
• Week two: 14:30 - 22:30

Role Overview

The role involves managing engineering activities at Biffa MBT facility to ensure operational efficiency. Responsibilities include maintaining plant availability through timely execution of PPMs, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements. The role also involves promoting best practices on a shift basis, focusing on high engineering, compliance, and H&S standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Responding reactively to machinery issues and breakdowns, as well as performing planned maintenance and project work. Electrical work includes sensors, relays, AC/DC motors, contactors, control panels, and PLCs. Fault finding on PLCs, preferably Siemens S7, is desirable.
• Supporting maintenance in manufacturing, industrial, or automated environments. Must be electrically qualified and competent.
• Reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
• Fault diagnosis on motors and familiarity with MCC panels.
• Working with controls and instrumentation such as temperature and pressure transducers, flow meters, etc. Ability to read electrical drawings and diagnose faults. Knowledge of PLC hardware is essential.

Minimum Requirements

• HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• BS7671 18th edition (advantageous)
• Previous health and safety training (proof of experience acceptable)
• CompEx certification (advantageous)
• Instrumentation and control training
