Job description

Help us make a difference as a Shift Electrical Technician at our West Sussex MBT/AD facility.

£47,521 - £50,836 (after 3 months) per annum.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday with 1 out of 4 Saturdays.

Week one: 06:45 - 14:45

Week two: 14:30 - 22:30

A quick look at the role

The role holder will drive engineering activities at Biffa MBT facility to ensure operational excellence. Responsibilities include maintaining plant availability through timely execution of PPMs, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements. The role also involves promoting best practices on shift regarding engineering, compliance, and health & safety standards.

Your Core Responsibilities

• Respond reactively to machinery problems and breakdowns, and perform planned preventative maintenance and project work. Electrical work includes sensors, relays, AC/DC motors, contactors, control panels, and PLCs. Fault finding on PLCs, preferably Siemens S7, is desirable.
• Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or automated environment supporting maintenance is required. Electrical qualification and competence are essential.
• Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
• Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on motors, MCC panels, and control systems.
• Work with instrumentation such as temperature and pressure transducers, flow meters, and interpret electrical drawings. Knowledge of PLC hardware is required.

• HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• BS7671 18th edition (advantageous)
• Previous health and safety training (proof of experience required)
• CompEx certification (advantageous)
• Training in Instrumentation and Control
