The Electrical Technician position in Cassington involves maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical plant equipment at a Sewage Treatment Works. Working full-time for Pertemps Thames Water, you will inspect, diagnose faults, test, install and modify machinery with minimal supervision, ensuring sites remain operational. The role prioritises health and safety compliance. Your efforts directly support reducing environmental pollution and improving Thames Water's ecological footprint. This permanent contract offers a salary up to £42,000, dependent on experience. You will apply your electrical expertise to varied tasks, from routine checks to complex repairs, contributing to essential water services. This role suits a proactive technician seeking responsibility and a tangible impact on local infrastructure and sustainability outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Sewage Treatment Works team in Cassington. As the successful candidate, you will be using your electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers. What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by always displaying the correct behaviours, complying with the Health and Safety at work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines. Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fix these or elevate, planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis, installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current Standards and Regulations. Record work and asset information to improve business performance along with identifying possible future risks and recommending changes in the course of your day-to-day work and to raise these for resolution as required. Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge along with coaching, training and developing staff under your supervision, including the apprenticeship programme. Delivering excellent customer experience and positively contribute to overall customer satisfaction. Interacting with all of our customers (internal & external) in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.

Base Location: Cassington STW, Yarnton Road, Cassington, Witney, OX29 4EB.

Working pattern: 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am -3:36pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training. All PPE, Tools plus the provision of a Van when on duty and on call.

What you should bring to the role

You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical / electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering. 18th Edition preferred but training can be given.

A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalating if required.

An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.

Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.

Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.

Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.

Team player who can work in many different teams showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.

Full UK driving licence.
