Job description

Equans is looking for an Electrical Technician to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis for our QEH contract. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

To undertake improvement work, maintenance, and repairs of electrical and non-complex mechanical plant, services, and physical assets, including testing and routine fault finding. Responsibilities will be at the Acute PFI Hospital. The role involves maintaining all services to the NHS Trust and ensuring compliance with EQUANS's KPIs and contract.

Impact:

This position plays an important role within the workflow process, involving the development of detailed knowledge and maintenance of core plant and equipment in the Acute PFI Hospital Building.

Complexity:
  • Interpret and work from instructions, drawings, and specifications relevant to the trade without supervision.
  • Set up new work using relevant tools, equipment, and machinery independently.
  • Work off tower scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, and within confined spaces after training.
  • Perform unsupervised maintenance and repairs, reporting defects or unusual circumstances to the supervisor.
  • Learn new techniques as necessary through training.
  • Work in departments with service users, sometimes encountering distressing circumstances.
  • Understand the general working of the EQUANS estate for efficient work execution.
  • Collaborate with other trades and support teams.
  • Respond to instructions via radio or PDA, which may disrupt work patterns.
  • Work in compliance with all relevant regulations, codes of practice, and safety rules.
  • Produce material lists for repairs or alterations as needed.
  • Ensure all PPM and reactive work is completed effectively and within response times.
  • Record information accurately in systems like Maximo.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet contract and KPI requirements.
  • Develop additional skills and pass knowledge to others, aiming for flexibility and competence.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
  • Electrical installation apprenticeship with qualifications such as City & Guilds Part 1, 2 & 3, Level 2 or 3, or Diploma.
  • 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS Amendment).
  • HTM-06- Competent Person for LV.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
