Job summary

Spirit Energy invites applications for an Electrical Technician at Barrow Gas Terminal. The role focuses on routine electrical maintenance and defect repair to keep plant and equipment reliable for gas production and condensate storage. Core contract until ceasing production (est 2028).

The position offers a 9‑day fortnight rotation, 9 hours paid per day, with 33 holidays per year. Travel and accommodation are not covered, and overtime/onsite duties are included.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process, operations or maintenance.
• Knowledge of production/maintenance operations in oil and gas.
• CompEx certification.
• Ideally HV or SAEP or REP qualification.

Responsibilities

• Executes routine and on-routine maintenance to plant and equipment in accordance with procedures and safety requirements.
• Investigates complex technical problems in critical plant and returns plant to normal operation.
• Prepares technical reports and maintains records for audits and future analysis.
• Carries out commissioning and decommissioning to meet planned plant operating programmes.
• Contributes to design and commissioning of plant modifications to ensure ongoing availability.
• Supervises staff and contractors to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Ensures safe working practices and proper permits are in place.
• Carry out duties of Power Technician when qualified as SAEP/REP.

THE OPPORTUNITY – ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN, BARROW GAS TERMINAL

Required to undertake routine electrical maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production/processing and condensate storage.

Duration: Core contract role required until Cease of Plant Production (est 2028)

Location: Barrow Gas Terminal

Rotation/Hours: 9-Day fortnight, 9 hours paid per day

Holidays: 33 paid per annum

Please be aware that travel/accommodation is not covered.

Overtime and On call payment in addition.

In role, the Electrical Technician:

• Executes routine and on-routine maintenance activities to plant and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure the protection of plant, equipment and the safety of employees.
• Investigates complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifies solutions and acts to return plant to normal operating service.
• Prepares and presents technical reports and maintains appropriate records of activities within the recognised systems in order to maintain an accurate record of activities undertaken for the benefit of future analysis and third‑party audit.
• Carries out commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure planned plant operating programmes are achieved in a timely manner.
• Contributes to the design and commissioning of plant modifications including the initiation of recommendations for modifications to ensure the ongoing availability of plant and equipment.
• Supervises other staff and vendor/contractor employees in undertaking particular work activities to ensure that activities are undertaken safely and efficiently in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Ensures that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the area of work, and that appropriate permitry is in place to ensure the protection of plant, equipment, and the safety of employees.
• Carry out the duties of Power Technician and when suitably qualified will act as SAEP/REP.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process, operations or maintenance
• Knowledge of production/maintenance operations gained through experience of working in the oil and gas industry.
• CompEx certification
• Ideally qualified as HV or SAEP or REP
