Blueprint Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Technical Director to lead high-profile data centre projects within a specialist M&E consultancy. The role combines technical direction with team leadership, project delivery and business development.

You will work with the director team on strategy while staying hands-on in design reviews, engineering calculations and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, design and coordination of electrical engineering services across complex data centre projects.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams including junior engineers.
• Take a hands-on role in concept and detailed design, technical reviews and calculations.
• Coordinate engineering services across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage projects from a commercial perspective including fees, costs and margins.
• Support feasibility studies and prepare project fee proposals.
• Engage with clients to establish technical and commercial requirements.
• Support tendering and procurement of MEP contractors and equipment.
• Monitor construction, installation and commissioning activities.
• Undertake surveys and technical due diligence of data centre facilities.
• Represent the business at client meetings and industry events.
• Build long-term client relationships and identify future project opportunities.
• Assist with business development and engagement with prospective clients.
• Contribute to office and sector management with senior leadership.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technical Director to take a senior leadership position within a specialist M&E consultancy operating at the forefront of the data centre sector.

The role combines high-level technical leadership with team management, project delivery, commercial responsibility and business development. You'll work closely with the wider Director team on business strategy while remaining technically involved in the design and delivery of complex mission-critical projects.

This would suit an established electrical engineering leader who wants a role with genuine influence across both the technical direction of projects and the continued development of the business.

The Role

You'll be involved in:

• Leading the development, design and coordination of electrical engineering services across complex data centre projects
• Managing and mentoring engineering teams while supporting the development of junior engineers
• Taking a hands-on role in concept and detailed design, technical reviews and engineering calculations
• Leading coordination of engineering services across multidisciplinary project teams
• Managing projects from a commercial perspective, including fees, costs, profitability and target margins
• Supporting feasibility studies and preparing project fee proposals
• Working directly with clients to establish technical and commercial project requirements
• Supporting tendering and procurement of MEP contractors and equipment
• Monitoring construction, installation, commissioning and operational testing
• Undertaking surveys and technical due diligence of existing data centre facilities
• Representing the business at technical meetings with clients, consultants and contractors
• Building long-term client relationships and identifying future project opportunities
• Supporting business development and engagement with prospective clients
• Contributing to office and sector management alongside the wider senior leadership team
• Producing technical white papers and representing the business at industry events
• Ensuring projects meet internal expectations across project management, financial performance, QA/QC and technical review

What They're Looking For

• Extensive electrical Building Services engineering experience
• Strong technical background within data centres or mission-critical environments
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and developing technical talent
• Ability to lead complex MEP projects from concept through detailed design and delivery
• Strong commercial understanding, including project fees, profitability and financial performance
• Experience managing client relationships and supporting business development
• Strong understanding of construction, installation and operational testing
• Experience supporting MEP procurement and contractor appointments
• Confidence representing a consultancy at senior client and technical meetings
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, technical compliance and quality assurance
• Ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement
• Experience undertaking data centre surveys, technical due diligence and client-facing technical advisory work would be particularly valuable.
