Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements recruits for a client for a long-term industrial electrical supervisor role. You will supervise a team of around 20 electricians and improvers across sub groups, overseeing installation, testing, commissioning and site coordination.

The role requires 18th edition BS7671, NVQ Level 3, SMSTS/SSSTS, and an ECS/JIB Gold Card. You will manage RAMS, permits to work, liaise with site management and clients, and oversee handover and documentation.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical craft apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
• Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) pass.
• SMSTS or SSSTS safety certification required.
• ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent supervisory card.

Responsibilities

• Site supervision of electrical installation, testing and commissioning on a large industrial project.
• Direct internal operatives and electrical subcontractors, allocating daily tasks and monitoring productivity.
• Enforce safe systems of work, manage RAMS and permit-to-work controls.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and ensure red-line as-built drawings are updated.
• Liaise between site team, site manager, contracts manager, clients and external stakeholders.
• Inspect completed work, manage snagging/defects and support project handover.

NPP are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients to place a non working electrical supervisor for a long term industrial install contract

The role entails supervising a team of around 20 electricians and improvers split into sub groups

Core Responsibilities

• Site Supervision: Coordinate and oversee electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities across a large industrial project.

• Subcontractor & Labour Management: Direct internal operatives and electrical subcontractors, allocating daily tasks and monitoring productivity.

• Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce safe systems of work, review and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and control permit-to-work and isolation procedures.

• Technical Coordination: Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, cable schedules, and ensure "red-line" as-built drawings are updated.

• Liaison: Act as the main point of contact between the site team, site manager, contracts manager, clients, and external stakeholders

• Quality & Handover: Inspect completed work, manage snagging/defects, and support final project handover and documentation.

Essential Requirements

• Qualifications: Recognised electrical craft apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent.

• Regulations: Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) pass.

• Safety Accreditations: Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), alongside an ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent supervisory card.

• Experience: Extensive industrial trade background with proven experience managing teams and subcontractors in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
