Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements is seeking a non-working electrical supervisor for a long-term industrial install contract. You will supervise a team of around 20 electricians and improvers split into sub groups, coordinating site activities and ensuring project milestones are met.

Key responsibilities include supervising electrical installation and commissioning, managing subcontractors and labour, enforcing safety RAMS and permit-to-work controls, reading schematics and updating as-built drawings,

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) compliant.
• SMSTS or SSSTS qualification and ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent.
• Extensive industrial/trade background with team and subcontractor management.

Responsibilities

• Site supervision: coordinate electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Direct internal operatives and subcontractors, assign daily tasks.
• Enforce safe systems of work, RAMS review, permit-to-work control.
• Read schematics and cable schedules; update as-built drawings.
• Liaise between site team, site manager, contracts manager and clients.
• Inspect work, manage snagging, and support project handover.

Job description

NPP are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients to place a non working electrical supervisor for a long term industrial install contract

The role entails supervising a team of around 20 electricians and improvers split into sub groups

Core Responsibilities

• Site Supervision: Coordinate and oversee electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities across a large industrial project.
• Subcontractor & Labour Management: Direct internal operatives and electrical subcontractors, allocating daily tasks and monitoring productivity.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce safe systems of work, review and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and control permit-to-work and isolation procedures.
• Technical Coordination: Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, cable schedules, and ensure "red-line" as-built drawings are updated.
• Liaison: Act as the main point of contact between the site team, site manager, contracts manager, clients, and external stakeholders
• Quality & Handover: Inspect completed work, manage snagging/defects, and support final project handover and documentation.

Essential Requirements

• Qualifications: Recognised electrical craft apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent.
• Regulations: Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) pass.
• Safety Accreditations: Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), alongside an ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent supervisory card.
• Experience: Extensive industrial trade background with proven experience managing teams and subcontractors in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
