Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment seeks an Electrical Supervisor for a live Camberley data centre project. You will lead day-to-day electrical operations, ensuring safe, compliant installation and timely handover to the client.

You will manage labour, subcontractors and site teams across LV distribution, containment and critical infrastructure while maintaining QA records and supporting commissioning and close-out activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supervising electrical works within data centres or critical environments.
• Data centre experience is a strong advantage, including LV distribution, UPS, generators and containment.
• Confident reading technical drawings and managing labour on site.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation standards, site safety, QA procedures and permits.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate electrical operatives, subcontractors and suppliers on site.
• Ensure installations are delivered safely, correctly and in line with drawings and RAMS.
• Oversee electrical works across data halls and related critical infrastructure.

• Manage access, permits, materials, deliveries and day-to-day site coordination.
• Maintain accurate QA documentation, progress updates and handover packs.
• Support health and safety procedures and live environment controls.

Electrical Supervisor

If you're an Electrical Supervisor who wants to work on a proper data centre project rather than another standard commercial install, this is a strong opportunity.

You'll be working on a live Camberley data centre project, supporting the delivery of works across an existing critical environment with mission‑critical operations, data hall space, refurbishment areas and future capacity expansion.

This is not a simple new‑build project where everything happens in isolation. The site needs proper planning, careful coordination and an Electrical Supervisor who understands how to keep installation moving safely in a controlled data centre environment.

The role

You'll oversee the day‑to‑day electrical operations on site, making sure electrical systems are installed, coordinated, tested and handed over in line with project requirements, safety standards and client expectations.

The project is expected to involve data hall works, refurbishment areas, LV distribution, containment, small power, lighting, structured cabling infrastructure, UPS interfaces, generators, switchgear, BMS / EMS interfaces, fire and security systems, testing, commissioning support and associated handover documentation.

This role needs someone who can manage labour, coordinate subcontractors, maintain quality, keep accurate records and support the wider project team through installation, commissioning and close‑out.

What you'll be doing

• Supervising and coordinating electrical operatives, subcontractors and specialist suppliers on site.
• Making sure electrical installations are delivered safely, correctly and in line with drawings, specifications, RAMS and project standards.
• Overseeing electrical works across data halls, plant areas, refurbishment areas and associated critical infrastructure.
• Coordinating containment, LV distribution, power, lighting, structured cabling, fire, security and controls interfaces.
• Supporting commissioning activities, including inspections, test records, energisation, witness testing, snagging and handover.
• Carrying out regular inspections and quality checks to make sure works are installed to the required standard.
• Liaising with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, mechanical teams, client representatives and subcontractors to keep the job moving.
• Managing access, permits, materials, deliveries and day‑to‑day site coordination.
• Maintaining accurate records, including QA documentation, progress updates, test sheets, snagging information and handover packs.
• Supporting health and safety procedures, site audits, permit‑to‑work requirements and live environment controls.
• Representing the business professionally with internal teams, clients, subcontractors and third parties.
• Maintaining client confidentiality and following project procedures around data protection, information security and site access.

What you'll need

You’ll need proven experience supervising electrical works within data centres, critical environments, M&E contracting, commercial projects, live buildings or technically demanding building services schemes.

Data centre experience would be a strong advantage, especially if you have worked around LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, containment, structured cabling, BMS / EMS interfaces, testing and commissioning.

You should be confident reading technical drawings, managing labour, coordinating subcontractors and dealing with practical site issues before they affect programme.

You’ll need a strong understanding of electrical installation standards, site safety, QA procedures, permit systems and client requirements.

Experience supporting commissioning and handover in a live or controlled environment would be very useful.

You’ll ideally hold SSSTS or SMSTS, ECS / CSCS and a recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.

You can walk the site, see what is happening, understand what is not ready and make sure people know what needs to happen next.

You do not need to be micromanaged. You know how to control a workface, keep standards high and push progress without creating unnecessary noise.
