Job summary

TCS Contracts seeks an experienced Electrical Supervisor to lead electrical installation, maintenance and repair works within the prison estate. You will supervise operatives, ensure safe, efficient completion and compliance with site security requirements.

This long-term public sector project offers stable work, with opportunities to manage skilled teams and coordinate with clients and contractors on-site. A strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• ECS / JIB Card.
• Proven supervisory experience in electrical installation or maintenance.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification preferred.
• Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate electrical installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Manage day-to-day operations of electrical teams on site.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with BS7671 and health and safety regulations.
• Conduct quality inspections and oversee testing and commissioning activities.
• Allocate workloads and monitor productivity to meet deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance and support to electricians and apprentices.
• Complete and review job documentation, risk assessments and reports.
• Liaise with site management, clients, contractors and other trades.
• Ensure adherence to prison security procedures and site protocols.
• Identify and resolve technical issues and site challenges efficiently.

Location: HMP Highdown (SM2 5PJ)

Salary: Competitive / £230-£250 per day (DOE)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Supervisor to lead and oversee electrical installation, maintenance, and repair works within the prison estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising electrical operatives, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry regulations and site security requirements.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).

• ECS / JIB Card.
• Proven experience in a supervisory role within electrical installation or maintenance.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification preferred.
• Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent) desirable.
• Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and site compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to pass enhanced prison security vetting.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Important Information

All applicants must be able to pass prison security vetting prior to commencing work. Previous experience working within prisons, secure establishments, MOD sites, or similar environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
