Job summary

Graphene Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor for a major prison refurbishment project in Newmarket. You will lead electrical installation and oversee on-site teams to ensure safe, compliant, and timely execution in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities include supervising operatives and subcontractors, ensuring BS standards and project specs, and coordinating with the Construction Manager to drive quality and programme performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor or similar role.
• Background in commercial refurbishment or complex live-site environments (secure sites advantageous).
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and industry standards.
• Ability to supervise operatives and subcontractors effectively on-site.
• Security clearance or eligibility to obtain prison vetting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all electrical installation and refurbishment works on-site.
• Coordinate operatives, apprentices, and subcontractors daily.
• Ensure compliance with BS standards, project specs, and security requirements.
• Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks.
• Report progress to the Construction Manager.
• Liaise with prison estate teams and stakeholders.
• Implement and monitor method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work.
• Ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation in a secure environment.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Identify site-level risks and help maintain programme targets.

Rate: £280 - £300 P.D (DOE)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to support the delivery of a major prison refurbishment project in Newmarket. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and timely execution of all electrical works within a secure and highly regulated environment.

You will supervise day-to-day site activities, oversee electrical operatives and subcontractors, ensure compliance with all prison security protocols, and report into the Electrical Construction Manager to help drive quality and programme performance.

• Ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation within a secure environment.

• Identify site-level risks, resolve day-to-day issues, and help maintain programme targets.
