Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) seeks an Electrical Superintendent to join our Maritime Department, delivering Electrical & Electronic expertise across the CUK fleet to keep vessels safe, compliant and ready for itineraries.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical discipline with Electro-Technical CoC, have sea-going experience in a marine environment, and strong SOLAS awareness. A collaborative, detail‑oriented professional able to work onboard and ashore is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as an electrical/electronic engineer in a marine environment.
• Understanding of SOLAS, Class Rules and statutory legislation.
• Strong collaboration and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide Electrical & Electronic expertise and operational support to the CUK fleet.
• Coordinate with ships staff, Ship Managers and stakeholders to prioritise requirements and ensure asset availability.
• Investigate root causes and trends using data; manage obsolescence and plan investments/ upgrades as needed.
• Support all Electrical and Electronic systems on Carnival UK vessels including HV, propulsion, automation and safety systems.

With a modern Fleet of 11 complex cruise ships with state of the art electrical equipment, this role is critical to ensuring that these ships remain safe, compliant and ready to meet their itineraries.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Superintendent to join our Maritime Department.

With a modern Fleet of 11 complex cruise ships with state of the art electrical equipment, this role is critical to ensuring that these ships remain safe, compliant and ready to meet their itineraries.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Working within the Fleet Technical Operations team taking responsibility for the provision, coordination, management and delivery of Electrical & Electronic expertise and operational support to the CUK fleet.
• Working closely with our ships staff and Ship Managers and other business stakeholdersto ensure requirements are prioritized in order to deliver high levels of availability and meet the overall asset management strategy of the business in the area of Electrical & Electronic engineering.
• Apply effective operational risk management to ensure high levels of critical equipment availability and reliability, using data to investigate and identify root causes and trends. The management of obsolescence is a significant challenge in this area and you will need to work closely with ship’s staff and manufacturers to ensure equipment obsolescence is managed within a tolerable risk threshold, recommending and managing investment and upgrades as appropriate.
• In addition you will be required to supply specialist support covering, but not limited to: all Electrical and Electronic equipment and systems on board carnival UK vessels including HV Generation and Distribution, Conversion, Electrical Propulsion, Automation, Monitoring, CCTV, Navigation and Safety systems as required.

Required Qualifications And Skills

• You will be an experienced and qualified electrical or electronic engineer. Sea going experience in the marine industry Electrical or Electro-Technical environment is essential, ideally within the cruise or passenger vessel sector. An understanding of regulations including SOLAS, Class Rules & applicable Statutory Legislation is also important.
• You will have a Degree or equivalent in a suitable Electrical discipline and ideally you will also hold an Electro-Technical Certificate of Competence (CoC).
