Job summary

Metlen Renewables in the United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Site Engineer to drive hands-on delivery across cutting-edge solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

You will oversee LV/MV installations, review drawings, support testing and commissioning, and work with civil and mechanical teams while upholding safety and QA standards. This role rewards seniority in on-site leadership and a proactive commitment to quality and timely project handover.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in electrical site engineering within construction or renewables.
• Experience supervising subcontractors and delivering electrical works on-site.
• Knowledge of LV/MV systems, grid connections, inverters and renewable infrastructure.
• Familiarity with testing, commissioning and QA/QC processes.
• Understanding of UK regulations (IET Wiring Regulations, G99/G100).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary site teams in fast-paced environments.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical subcontractors during LV/MV installations including cabling, panels, switchgear and inverters.
• Ensure installations meet design specifications with focus on cable routing, segregation, terminations, earthing and bonding.
• Interpret and review electrical drawings, SLDs, and cable schedules.
• Support inspection, testing and commissioning activities, including insulation resistance testing.
• Collaborate with civil and mechanical teams for smooth project execution.
• Monitor site progress, track subcontractor performance and address risks and delays.
• Maintain quality and testing documentation with full traceability.
• Support pre-commissioning, energisation and final handover.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards and safe systems of work.

• Collaborate closely with civil and mechanical teams to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.

• Maintain accurate quality and testing documentation, ensuring full traceability.
• Support pre‑commissioning, energisation and final project handover.
• Uphold the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.
