Job summary

Metlen Renewable Energy in the United Kingdom is seeking a driven Electrical Site Engineer to join our Energy team. You will oversee LV/MV electrical installations on solar PV and BESS projects, supervise subcontractors, and ensure compliance with UK standards while coordinating with civil and mechanical teams.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of on-site experience in renewables or construction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience as electrical site engineer in construction or renewables.
• Experience supervising subcontractors and delivering electrical works on-site.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical subcontractors during LV/MV installation (cabling, panels, switchgear, transformers, inverters).
• Ensure installations meet design specifications; focus on cable routing, terminations, earthing and bonding.
• Interpret and review electrical drawings, SLDs, and cable schedules.
• Support inspection, testing and commissioning activities, including insulation resistance and continuity testing.
• Collaborate with civil and mechanical teams for smooth project execution.
• Monitor site progress, subcontractor performance, and address risks/delays.
• Maintain quality and testing documentation with full traceability.
• Support pre-commissioning, energisation and handover.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards in every task.

Your role will encompass:

• Oversee electrical subcontractors during the installation ofLV/MV systems, including cabling, panels, switchgear, transformers and inverters
• Ensure installations meet design specifications, with a focus oncable routing, segregation, terminations, earthing and bonding
• Interpret and reviewelectrical drawings, single line diagrams (SLDs), and cable schedules
• Supportinspection, testing and commissioning activities, including insulation resistance and continuity testing
• Collaborate closely with civil and mechanical teams to ensure smooth and efficient project execution
• Monitor site progress, track subcontractor performance, and proactively address risks and delays
• Maintain accuratequality and testing documentation, ensuring full traceability
• Supportpre-commissioning, energisation and final project handover
• Uphold the highest standards ofhealth, safety and environmental compliance, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times

What you bring to the role:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related field
• At least 3 years’ experience in electrical site engineering within construction or renewable energy projects
• Strong experience supervising subcontractors and delivering electrical works on-site
• Solid understanding of LV/MV systems, including grid connections, inverters and renewable infrastructure
• Familiarity with testing, commissioning and QA/QC processes
• Knowledge of UK regulations, including IET Wiring Regulations and G99/G100 standards
• Ability to confidently interpret technical drawings and documentation
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary site teams in fast-paced environments
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
• A proactive mindset with a strong commitment to quality, safety and delivery excellence
