Job description

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a Principal Contractor in the renewable energy sector to recruit a Senior Project Manager with a civils bias for utility-scale solar farm projects on a long-term contract in the South/Southwest of England.

The role comes with a negotiable day rate depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee the electrical completion and commissioning of three utility-scale solar PV sites
* Coordinate and supervise electrical subcontractors delivering HV/LV infrastructure including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cable terminations.
* Lead electrical testing and commissioning activities, ensuring full compliance with BS 7671, G99/G100 requirements, and client specifications.
* Work closely with DNOs and ICPs to manage and complete grid connection processes.
* Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and produce relevant test documentation and reports.
* Manage site progress, address technical challenges, and ensure alignment with programme deadlines.
* Enforce Health & Safety compliance and electrical safety standards across all sites.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders and report project status to senior management and client representatives.

Key skills

* Proven experience managing electrical works on large-scale solar farms, specifically during final stages and handover.
* Strong background in electrical testing and commissioning of HV/LV solar PV systems.
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
* Strong working knowledge of G99/G100 grid connection and commissioning procedures.
* SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.
* ECS/CSCS Card.
* Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across multiple sites.

Desirable:

* HV Authorisation or SAP status.
* Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
* Familiarity with DNO handover and grid compliance documentation.
* Working knowledge of project planning software and electrical QA documentation.
* Experience with NEC or JCT contract environments.

Location, remuneration and timeframe of the Electrical Project Manager role

* South/Southeast of England
* Day rate negotiable
* 6 months initial with potential for further opportunities
* Outside IR35
