Job summary

ABB in the United Kingdom seeks an Electrical Engineer to support installation, commissioning and maintenance of MV/LV switchgear and VSD systems across energy sectors. You will work on protection relays, power system studies, and field support for critical projects in oil & gas, marine, and renewables.

Qualifications

• MV/LV distribution experience in industrial settings.
• Experience commissioning, testing, maintaining MV/LV switchgear and protection relays.
• Knowledge of protection relay configuration and power system studies.
• Understanding IEC standards and electrical safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and drive continuous improvement.
• Experience with ABB products/software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade MV/LV switchgear and VSD systems.
• Provide technical support remotely and on customer sites across the service lifecycle.
• Develop protection relay settings and study coordination for safe operation.
• Contribute to power system studies: short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, harmonic, EMC.
• Diagnose faults on ABB VSDs (ACS1000/ACS5000/ACS6000/ACS800/ACS880).
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings, procedures, work packs and statements.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define scope and support bids.
• Ensure ABB quality standards and IEC compliance; deliver knowledge transfer.
