Job summary

Caterpillar in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical) on a temp basis with the potential to become permanent. You will work a rotating 36-hour schedule across days, backs, and nights, ensuring high‑quality maintenance and minimal downtime on high-tech production lines.

The role involves developing PPMs, repairing CNC machinery, and collaborating with electrical/mechanical contractors. Overtime rates apply on weekends.

Qualifications

• Electrical bias with strong mechanical understanding.
• Experience with ABB robotics; ability to understand control functions and re-teach segments.
• Familiarity with software/code (TIA Portal) for fault finding.
• Knowledge of machine shop equipment incl. jigs, tools and production assets.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify production issues and perform precise repairs.
• Excellent teamwork and communication within a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Ensure buildings, machines and equipment are safe, maintained and operational to minimize downtime.
• Carry out scheduled work and improvement projects promptly to reduce productivity loss.
• Repair and maintain CNC machinery, jigs, fixtures, lasers to ensure quality and repeatability.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical contractors on-site under permit control.
• Develop work procedures and standards for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and log production issues for future reference.
• Support installation of new equipment by the Technical Resources Services Department.
