Job summary

SSE is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Fitter to maintain and inspect critical plant across Inverness, Caithness and Moray. You’ll carry out maintenance on switchgear and power systems up to 400 kV, with training to obtain full authorisation, while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience on an electrical network, ideally LV and HV plant maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety and delivering high service quality.
• Enthusiasm, drive and flexibility to adapt to priorities.
• Prefer HV experience in transmission or similar org; SVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship preferred.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on switchgear and plant up to 400 kV, with training to gain full authorisation.
• Maintain power systems, including switchgear, transformers, busbars and related equipment, in a field-based setting.
• Complete inspections, planned maintenance and defect repairs; assist with construction work ensuring value for money.
• Prioritise safety and ensure all work meets high standards.
• Participate in standby duties for fault work after authorisations, complying with regulatory requirements.
