Job summary

SSE is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Fitter to maintain and inspect high‑voltage plant across Inverness, Caithness and Moray. The role is field-based, permanent and full‑time, with training to gain authorisation up to 400kV.

You will perform maintenance on switchgear and power systems, complete inspections, and support construction works while prioritising safety and value for money. A full driving licence is required, with occasional travel away from base.

Qualifications

• Experience working on electrical networks, LV and HV plant maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety and to delivering high service levels.
• Willingness to travel/work away from base location occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on switchgear and plant up to 400 kV, with training provided.
• Maintain power systems, switchgear, transformers and associated equipment in the field.
• Complete inspections and defect repairs, assist with construction works, ensure value for money.
