Job summary

Transport for London is seeking an experienced Electrical Marine Engineering Manager to lead safe, reliable maintenance of Woolwich Ferry vessels and shoreside assets.

You will coordinate resources, manage budgets, and drive asset performance while ensuring compliance with standards. The role is full-time and based in Woolwich Ferry, with on-call duties and a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading maintenance teams and chairing maintenance meetings (essential).
• Extensive electrical engineering experience within operational or transport industry (essential).
• Experience of leading teams (essential).
• Experience with electrical, electronic and control engineering (essential).
• Remote monitoring, fault diagnostic & resolution; PLC systems experience (essential).
• Maintenance and repair (essential).
• Extensive experience in fault finding and continuous improvement projects (essential).

Responsibilities

• Provide day to day management for a team of maintenance engineers and set clear goals.
• Ensure safe procedures are followed and asset management systems are fully implemented.
• Develop annual maintenance plans and align work with budgets.
• Schedule planned work and assign to competent resources to maintain assets.
• Lead capital works planning and asset replacement aligned with lifecycle costs.
• Provide training, mentoring and competence assessments for the team.
• Manage 2nd tier contractors and external resources to deliver maintenance strategy.
• Participate in on-call duties and drive improvements for safety and reliability.
