An opportunity has arisen to appoint an officer into the position of Electrical Manager who will be responsible for the delivery and management of Lift Servicing, Lift Breakdowns, Lift Renewal, and the replacement of Major Lift Components.
The key responsibilities of the Service Manager will be to manage the day-to-day delivery of a monthly Lift Service programme, lift breakdowns, and trappings; ensure contractors adhere to the specified times as per the contract; deliver lift modernisation and refurbishment programmes, applying project and contract management skills from development to final handover; monitor contractor KPI performance and ensure all lift works meet high standards aligned with the council's expectations; lead meetings with stakeholders, providing updates and effective communication; monitor budgets, forecast future spend, and control overspends related to lift repairs and modernisation; manage staff work allocation, performance, and development; produce reports such as minutes and progress reports; build positive relationships with contractors and consultants to ensure a high-quality lift service across the borough.
You need in-depth knowledge of the Lift Industry, including relevant regulations, guidelines, legislation, and practical experience in lift maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Experience in procuring lift contracts is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of the impact of new regulations such as the Building Safety Act on lift services is important.
The candidate must hold NVQ3 Lift & Escalator professional qualifications, including EOR/202 Basic Lift Safety and EOR/205N Basic Service Lift Safety, along with a relevant project or contract management qualification.
Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are essential for liaising with residents, contractors, developers, and professionals, using appropriate professional language.
Proficiency in creating and using spreadsheets for programme delivery, budgeting, and monitoring is required; familiarity with Google accounts is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
This role requires working in the office with the possibility of hybrid arrangements, locally agreed with your line manager.
