Job summary

Coventry University Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to supervise contractors and ensure safe, compliant electrical services across its campuses. You will coordinate planned and reactive works, inspect safety procedures, and act as the primary link between contractors, internal teams, faculties and students.

The role requires qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Building Services, knowledge of BS 7671, and experience with CAFM systems such as Planon.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical maintenance with contractor supervision.
• Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
• Understanding of electrical compliance requirements and safe systems of work.
• Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Experience coordinating contractors, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, managing permit-to-work processes.
• Experience using CAFM systems such as Planon and maintaining compliance records.
• Organised and proactive with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to regional campuses including Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London, and Dagenham and to participate in the management call-out rota.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate electrical maintenance contractors.
• Support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical maintenance services across Coventry University Group's campuses.
• Oversee contracted planned preventative maintenance, reactive works, statutory inspections, and minor electrical projects.
• Manage contractor performance, review risk assessments and permits to work, audit workmanship quality, and ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures.
• Act as the primary operational link between contractors, in-house technical teams, faculties, students, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate maintenance activities using the Planon CAFM system.
• Maintain compliance records and asset information.
• Monitor contractor KPIs and support the administration of electrical contracts.
• Provide technical guidance on electrical systems, assist with fault finding and incident response.
• Support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives across the Estates and Infrastructure Services team.
