Job summary

Bosch Rexroth in Birmingham seeks an experienced Plant Engineer to maintain and diagnose PLC-controlled machinery, assist with commissioning, and oversee shift Technicians and apprentices. You’ll ensure electrical standards, and support ongoing improvements across production lines.

The role involves hands-on maintenance in a manufacturing setting, with emphasis on hydraulics/pneumatics knowledge and adherence to safety/regulatory procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of Advanced Apprenticeship, HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical/Electrical or related discipline.
• Recognised Electrical Engineering / Maintenance qualifications.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• Experience of a General Machining Workshop including Turning, Milling and fitting of manual tools would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing maintenance within the Plant Engineering department and assist with repairs or modifications.
• Diagnose faults on PLC-controlled machinery and electrical systems.
• Assist with commissioning new machinery and automation.
• Supervise shift Technicians and apprentices on your shift.
• Carry out electrical inspections, testing and routine maintenance.
• Support the Plant Engineering Manager in enforcing procedures and deadlines.
• Collaborate with Engineers to develop colleagues to company standards.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Liaise with Manufacturing Engineers to meet departmental needs.
• Provide technical advice and troubleshooting support on projects.
