Job summary

Scottish Canals are recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for our Grangemouth network. This permanent role is Monday–Friday, 8am–3:30pm, with some flexibility.

Applicants should have an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent and relevant experience in electrical, instrumentation and control disciplines. The role involves breakdown response, fault investigation, and maintenance across the canal network including major assets.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
• HNC (or similar level) in an engineering discipline.
• Knowledge working within Electrical, Instrumentation & Control.
• Experience with 3 phase and single-phase motors, variable speed drives, actuated valves, electrohydraulic systems, Instrumentation and PLC control systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance programme.
• Fault investigation and emergency breakdown response.
• Under supervision, produce recommendations to minor problems.
• Provide inspection, monitoring, and reporting on condition of engineering assets.
• Ensure accurate documentation and recording of maintenance activities using asset management software.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure health, safety and environmental performance.
• Participate in an out of hours standby rota.
