Job summary

Scottish Canals in Falkirk seeks an M&E Asset Engineering Inspector to safeguard the long-term performance of canal network assets. You will inspect M&E assets, produce condition reports, and support compliance with inspection procedures.

The role is permanent, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a starting salary of £42,706 – £46,668 plus an outdoor working allowance of £850. A generous leave entitlement and pension are provided.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
• External certification in relevant fields is required.
• Membership of a professional body such as IET/IEE is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify certification and maintenance records in SC Database.
• Identify defects and ensure improvements for compliance.
• Assess asset condition and prioritise repairs.
• Produce detailed reports on inspection findings and risks.
• Provide technical advice on asset replacement with other teams.
