Job summary

Sodexo Group at HMP Northumberland is seeking an Electrical Engineer to maintain essential electrical infrastructure and contribute to safety, security and operational efficiency within a prison setting.

You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and work from technical drawings and manufacturer specifications, while keeping detailed maintenance records and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• City & Guilds / ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification.
• IET/IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect, test, fault-find, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Complete all work to relevant trade standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Identify and report defective or unsafe equipment.
• Support other FM trades and escort specialist contractors when required.
• Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency call-outs.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, security, and company procedures.
