Job summary

Escape is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our East Lothian plant, within easy reach of Edinburgh. You will be part of a 24/7 maintenance team, maintaining electrical and process control equipment across a large-scale continuous manufacturing site.

The ideal candidate will have strong fault-finding skills, knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems, HV/LV motors, switchgear and MCCs, and a sound appreciation of electrical safety rules.

Qualifications

• Experience as a trained Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
• Experience in heavy industrial or continuous process manufacturing environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability in live production.
• Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems and process instrumentation.
• Experience working on HV/LV systems, motors, drives, switchgear and MCCs.
• Understanding of electrical safety rules, permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
• Ability to work calmly under operational pressure.
• Strong team-working and communication with production and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Prioritising safety and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
• Applying knowledge to instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA, motors, drives and switchgear.
• Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control, and process systems.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shifts.
• Assisting operations in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
• Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
• Working across a large site including outdoor plant areas and substations.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and communicating issues during handovers with CMMS.

We are currently looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the Plant in East Lothian, conveniently located within commuting distance of Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

Within the role of dayshift Electrical Craftsperson, you will act as a key member of the 24/7 Maintenance team, focusing on electrical and process control equipment across the plant within a large-scale continuous process manufacturing environment.

• Prioritising safety at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards, electrical isolations, permit systems and safe working practices within a heavy industrial environment.
• Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on plant equipment in a safe and timely manner.
• Applying existing knowledge or quickly developing expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, motor control centres, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, industrial communications systems and specialised control panels.
• Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems within a live production environment.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shift periods.
• Assisting operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
• Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
• Working across a large industrial site including outdoor plant areas, substations, elevated structures and dusty process environments.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and communicating plant issues effectively during shift handovers using modern mobile CMMS systems.
• Being flexible within a shift pattern and supporting operational requirements during breakdown and shutdown situations.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience as a trained Electrical Maintenance Engineer
• Experience within a heavy industrial or continuous process manufacturing environment would be beneficial
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability within a live production environment.
• Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems and process instrumentation.
• Experience working on HV/LV systems, motors, drives, switchgear and MCCs.
• Understanding of electrical safety rules, permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively under operational pressure.
• Strong team-working skills with the ability to work independently during shift operations.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with production and maintenance teams.

Desirable Experience

• Siemens PLC or DCS experience.
• Experience with inverter drives.
• Experience with Profibus, Profinet or industrial communications systems.
• Experience working within a maintenance environment
