Job summary

Pertemps Network Group is recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturer in Birmingham for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer. The role involves maintaining large-scale production machinery, carrying out preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns to keep production moving.

You will diagnose electrical faults, read drawings, work with PLC systems and ensure safety and quality procedures are followed, with a 4 on 4 off day/night shift pattern and a salary up to £55,000.

Qualifications

• Completed engineering apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering.
• Electrical maintenance experience in heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and use them to diagnose faults.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Willingness to work 4 on, 4 off shift pattern including nights.

Are you an electrically biased maintenance engineer with experience working on heavy industrial equipment?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturer for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its maintenance and engineering team in Birmingham.

Working across a range of large-scale production machinery and site equipment, you will carry out planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns, helping to improve equipment reliability and keep production moving.

The role

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on manufacturing machinery and ancillary equipment.
• Carry out preventative and predictive maintenance in line with the maintenance schedule.
• Respond to breakdowns safely and efficiently, working to minimise disruption to production.
• Use electrical drawings and circuit diagrams to support fault-finding.
• Work with production colleagues to coordinate equipment downtime, estimate repair times and return machinery to service.
• Maintain accurate records and follow site health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Work as part of a flexible maintenance team, supporting colleagues across the site.

What we are looking for

• A completed engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Electrical maintenance experience within a heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing environment.
• A good understanding of PLC-controlled systems.
• The ability to read electrical drawings and use them to diagnose faults.
• 17th Edition Wiring Regulations as a minimum.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain records.
• A practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively under production pressure.

Experience in the metals industry, an HNC or higher engineering qualification, and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous. Experience operating an overhead travelling crane or forklift would also be beneficial.
