Job summary

Wienerberger UK & Ireland is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at the Broomfleet site near Gilberdyke. You will be hands-on on a busy production line, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical and electro‑mechanical plant to ensure reliability.

The role requires a Level 3 electrical qualification and a strong focus on safety. You will diagnose faults, program PLCs and work as part of a close‑knit maintenance team with Lean and quality systems in place.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/factory environment preferred.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and health & safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electrical and electro‑mechanical plant equipment.
  • Operate and improve a preventive electrical maintenance system.
  • Fault finding and repairs on electrical systems and PLCs.
  • Program Siemens and other PLCs.
  • Use testing equipment to locate and remedy faults.
  • Promote Lean thinking in daily work.
  • Attend breakdowns and restore production quickly.
  • Contribute to SSOW documentation and safe work practices.
  • Adhere to BSEN ISO 9001 quality standards.

Join us as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at our Broomfleet site in Gilberdyke

About The Role

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (known internally as a Maintenance Electrician) at our Broomfleet site, you will be part of our hands on inhouse team who keep the plant running by ensuring the equipment runs smoothly.

From troubleshooting to planned preventive maintenance (PPM), you will be hands‑on with specialist machinery, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. It's a dynamic role where problem‑solving skills and technical expertise are used daily, and you will be a key player contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes.

Our engineers have a varied role, so you’ll get the chance to use a variety of electrical skills associated with being an electrician and service engineer.

We will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to safely and effectively work as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer where you will…

  • Install and maintaining all electrical & electro‑mechanical plant equipment or machinery
  • Operating a preventative electrical maintenance system
  • Faulting finding and repairs
  • Program Siemens & other programmable logic controllers (PLC’s)
  • Use various types of testing equipment to locate and remedy faults
  • Promote Lean thinking
  • Attend breakdowns
  • Contribute to safe systems of work (SSOW) documentation

This site produces Roof tiles, supporting our manufacturing of high‑quality building materials across the UK.

This position is based at our Broomfleet site, which is near Gilberdyke and is easily commutable from Goole, Market Weighton, Hessle, and Brough.

Hours Of Work

7.00am – 7.00pm 4 days on, 4 off shift pattern

About You

You will be an electrically biased engineer with experience of working in a manufacturing / factory environment, with a minimum level 3 qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline.

Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have strong experience of health and safety best practice.

You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands‑on and being flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities will enable the factory to continue to run efficiently.

As this role is sometimes physically demanding, you’ll be fit enough to perform your various duties.

You’ll also have
  • Strong team playing skills
  • Good communication (written and verbal)
  • Good working knowledge of environment, health, and safety (EHS) processes
  • Analytical & problem‑solving skills
  • Diagnostics experience of electrical motors and pneumatics
  • Experience and knowledge of PLCs (programmable logic controllers)
Desirable
  • 17th / 18th edition qualified (although training could be provided)
  • Completed a hands‑on apprentice training programme
  • HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in heavy industry manufacturing
