Job summary

Prime Appointments Recruitment Agency is seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a site-based role in Witham, Essex. The role is predominantly electrical (roughly 70%) with mechanical tasks, handling both planned and reactive maintenance on diverse production equipment.

The successful candidate will diagnose faults across electrical and PLC systems, perform routine PPMs, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ, BTEC or equivalent) and 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including PLC inputs, outputs and analogue signals.
• Practical mechanical maintenance experience, with the ability to diagnose and repair faults independently.
• Experience with motors, drives and industrial machinery.
• ATEX, welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Fault-find on PLC systems, motors, drives, sensors and control equipment.
• Maintain mechanical equipment including conveyors, gearboxes, pumps and bearings.
• Support continuous improvement projects and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota for out-of-hours breakdowns.
