Job Role of the Multi-Skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer looking to join a successful manufacturing site, working within a fast‑paced production environment with opportunities to develop their technical skills.

You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, electrical fault‑finding and reactive maintenance across a range of manufacturing machinery and equipment. Working closely with the wider engineering team, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability and ensuring production targets are achieved.

This role would suit a hands‑on, electrically biased Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault‑finding, problem‑solving and working in a busy industrial environment.

Non‑Negotiable Requirements

• Proven experience as a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias.
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• A minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance or a relevant engineering discipline.

Requirements

• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on manufacturing machinery.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working with industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors and control equipment.
• Ability to identify faults quickly and implement effective solutions to minimise production downtime.
• Good mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding skills to support a multi‑skilled engineering function.
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an engineering team.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and maintain high standards of health and safety.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience working within a fast‑paced production or FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of PLCs, control systems and automated machinery.
• Experience with continuous improvement and reliability‑focused maintenance activities.
• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within the UK manufacturing sector.
