Job summary
Wigan & Leigh College is looking for an experienced Electrician to teach electrical installation across Levels 1 to 3. You’ll bring practical trade knowledge to the classroom and help students progress into apprenticeships and jobs in the trade.
The role combines delivering practical and theory lessons, marking work, providing feedback, and supporting learners as a Personal Tutor. A teaching qualification or willingness to train is required, with DBS and safeguarding responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Must hold a vocational qualification in Electrical Installation or a related area.
- Experience working as an electrician.
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) or equivalent.
- Comfort with IT and learning technologies for teaching.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons across Levels 1 to 3, including practical and theory work.
- Teach standards, regulations and methods electricians need to know.
- Mark work, provide feedback and use results to shape teaching.
- Act as a Personal Tutor to support students through course progression.
- Contribute to curriculum development, departmental initiatives and recruitment activities.
