Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an Electrical Installation Tutor in Rochdale to deliver practical and classroom training for learners pursuing electrical installation and maintenance careers.

The role covers training across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding; teaching inspection/testing/certification; and preparing learners for End Point Assessments. A teaching qualification or willingness to work toward one is required.

Qualifications

  • Approved Electrician status or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Up-to-date BS 7671 knowledge and practices.
  • Experience with electrical tools and inspection/testing procedures.
  • Experience in training, teaching or assessing in electrical/vocational settings.
  • A teaching or assessing qualification or willingness to work toward one.
  • Ability to tailor delivery for diverse learner needs.
  • Strong communication, organisation and learner support skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver training across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding.
  • Teach inspection, testing and certification per BS 7671.
  • Provide practical workshops on wiring, testing and equipment.
  • Deliver classroom-based electrical principles and safety topics.
  • Support learners toward Level 2/3 qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Monitor progress, attendance and welfare; provide stretch activities.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessments and document accurately.
  • Develop resources and embed Functional Skills in Maths/English.
  • Maintain records using e-portfolios and LMS; promote safeguarding.
  • Support a safe, compliant workshop and learning environment.

Job description

Our client, an established training provider in the North West, is seeking an Electrical Installation Tutor to join its Electrical Department in Rochdale. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering practical and classroom-based training to learners working towards careers in electrical installation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging training and assessment across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding
  • Teach inspection, testing and certification, including the application of BS 7671 wiring regulations
  • Provide practical workshop sessions covering wiring systems, testing techniques, tools and electrical test equipment
  • Deliver classroom-based teaching on electrical principles, safe isolation and health and safety
  • Support learners working towards Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and apprenticeship standards
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, behaviour and development, providing appropriate support and stretch activities
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment and complete awarding body documentation accurately
  • Develop engaging training resources and embed Functional Skills in Maths and English within vocational delivery
  • Maintain accurate records using e-portfolio systems and contribute to the organisation's virtual learning environment
  • Promote equality, diversity, British Values, safeguarding and a positive learning culture
  • Maintain a safe, organised and industry-relevant workshop and classroom environment
Job Requirements:
  • Approved Electrician status, an electrical apprenticeship or a relevant industry qualification
  • Strong occupational competency in electrical installation, electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis
  • Up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671, electrical regulations and current industry practices
  • Experience using electrical tools, test equipment and inspection and testing procedures
  • Experience in training, teaching or assessing within an electrical or vocational environment
  • A teaching or assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
  • Ability to create effective delivery strategies for learners with a range of abilities and development needs
  • Strong communication, organisation and learner support skills
Working Pattern:

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday. The usual hours are 08:00 to 16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 15:30 on Fridays. The role is based on site and requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and learner welfare, including completion of relevant safer recruitment checks and mandatory safeguarding training.
