Job summary

Matchtech client, a North West training provider, is seeking an Electrical Installation Tutor to join the Electrical Department in Rochdale. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering practical and classroom-based training to learners aiming for careers in electrical installation and maintenance.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging training across installation, maintenance and fault finding, teach BS 7671 compliant inspection and testing, and support learners toward Level 2/3

Qualifications

• Approved Electrician status or equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations.
• Experience in training or teaching in electrical/vocational settings.
• Ability to develop delivery strategies for diverse learners.
• Familiarity with safeguarding and learner welfare.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding.
• Teach inspection, testing and certification per BS 7671.
• Provide practical workshop sessions on wiring, testing and equipment.
• Deliver classroom teaching on electrical principles, safety.
• Support learners toward Level 2 and Level 3 and apprenticeship standards.
• Monitor learner progress and provide support.
• Prepare learners for End Point Assessments and complete documentation.
• Develop engaging resources and embed Functional Skills in Maths and English.
• Maintain records via e-portfolio and VLE.
• Promote equality, safeguarding, British Values.
• Maintain safe workshop and classroom environment.

Job description

Our client, an established training provider in the North West, is seeking an Electrical Installation Tutor to join its Electrical Department in Rochdale. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering practical and classroom-based training to learners working towards careers in electrical installation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging training and assessment across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding
• Teach inspection, testing and certification, including the application of BS 7671 wiring regulations
• Provide practical workshop sessions covering wiring systems, testing techniques, tools and electrical test equipment
• Deliver classroom-based teaching on electrical principles, safe isolation and health and safety
• Support learners working towards Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and apprenticeship standards
• Monitor learner progress, attendance, behaviour and development, providing appropriate support and stretch activities
• Prepare learners for End Point Assessment and complete awarding body documentation accurately
• Develop engaging training resources and embed Functional Skills in Maths and English within vocational delivery
• Maintain accurate records using e-portfolio systems and contribute to the organisation's virtual learning environment
• Promote equality, diversity, British Values, safeguarding and a positive learning culture
• Maintain a safe, organised and industry-relevant workshop and classroom environment

Job Requirements:

• Approved Electrician status, an electrical apprenticeship or a relevant industry qualification
• Strong occupational competency in electrical installation, electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis
• Up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671, electrical regulations and current industry practices
• Experience using electrical tools, test equipment and inspection and testing procedures
• Experience in training, teaching or assessing within an electrical or vocational environment
• A teaching or assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
• Ability to create effective delivery strategies for learners with a range of abilities and development needs
• Strong communication, organisation and learner support skills

Working Pattern:

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday. The usual hours are 08:00 to 16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 15:30 on Fridays. The role is based on site and requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and learner welfare, including completion of relevant safer recruitment checks and mandatory safeguarding training.
