Job summary

Babcock, a global defence contractor, is recruiting an Electrical Fitter for HMNB Clyde near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. You will maintain, repair and inspect electrical systems within the Shiplift Facility to support safe, reliable operation of critical defence infrastructure.

The role is full-time and permanent, onsite, with opportunities to develop specialist technical expertise, work with a skilled team and contribute to national security while adhering to rigorous safety and engineering

Qualifications

• Experience in marine, industrial, or electrical maintenance environments.
• Confidence working at height, in confined spaces and in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and undertake fault-finding activities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality engineering standards.
• Experience with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH and safe systems of work; plus good teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and nuclear-implicated work across Shiplift systems and equipment.
• Identify, diagnose and rectify faults to maximise operational availability.
• Follow established engineering processes and contribute ideas to improve performance, efficiency and productivity.
• Work safely in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and control of work procedures.
• Support maintenance activities across the wider estate when required.
