Job summary

Equans Sci-Tech in Manchester is recruiting an Electrical Estimator to join the team, contributing to a diverse portfolio including data centres, pharmaceutical/clean room environments, and process engineering projects.

You will deliver accurate trade pricing, support full tender lifecycle from pre-qualification to final submission, and work with engineers and project managers to ensure estimates align with specifications. Strong Excel and estimating software skills are essential.

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to providing accurate and auditable cost estimates.
  • Review project documents to understand scope and requirements.
  • Prepare tender documents, budgets, bills of quantities, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to align estimates with design requirements.
  • Deliver fully costed and detailed pricing with supporting data and audit trail.

Equans Sci-Tech is recruiting an Electrical Estimator to join the team based in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a close-knit estimating team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects across Data Centres, Pharmaceutical / Clean Room Environments, Process Engineering & Industrial Works.

As an integral member of the Estimating Team, the Electrical Estimator will be responsible for delivering accurate and high-quality trade pricing. This role involves supporting the full tender lifecycle – from initial pre-qualification stage through the preparation, adjudication process to final submission – ensuring competitive and compliant proposals are developed in line with company standards.

What you will deliver?
  • Actively contribute to the team providing accurate and auditable cost estimates
  • Reviewing project documentation to develop a clear understanding of project scope and requirements
  • Accurately review and/or produce tender documents and drawings, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and projects managers to clarify design requirements and ensure estimates align with project specifications
  • Have responsibility for the delivery of fully costed and detailed pricing in response to client specifications with appropriate back-up data and audit trail documentation
  • Assist in the production and submission of tenders for various clients whilst building relationships with these clients
  • Prepare prices and forecast for the projects
  • Attend sites visits as required to estimate and produce analysis of the results
  • Establish and maintain long term relationship with key vendors
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates

Who are we looking for?
  • Proven experience in a similar Estimator role within the industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles and practices
  • Commercial awareness
  • Background in working within an M&E Subcontractor or Main Contractor
  • Extensive Trades knowledge
  • Demonstrate experience in managing time, resource & financial managerial
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety across all activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and build positive working relationships
  • Highly computer literate and analytical - competent in use of Microsoft Excel and estimating software
