Job summary

JN Bentley is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead on-site electrical delivery across projects in the South West region, from concept design to commissioning. You will collaborate with clients, contractors, and systems integrators to ensure safe, compliant installation and performance.

The role requires site-based work, strong coordination skills, and the ability to read complex electrical drawings and schemas, with travel across the Poole, Dorset, and Bournemouth area.

Qualifications

• CSCS, ECS or JIB certification required.
• SSSTS/SMSTS (or equivalent) certification.
• Progress toward professional registration.
• HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with electrical procedures and permits.
• Understanding of civil engineering principles and MEICA construction.
• Ability to read SLDs, CBDs, terminations, and system diagrams.
• Knowledge of UK standards including Client and WIMES.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Manage clients, system integrators and cabling contractors across instrumentation, industrial networks, LVDBs/MCCs, PLCs and SCADA installations, planning electrical works.
• Support pre-construction with surveys, scoping and procurement input; oversee construction-phase activities including outages.
• Produce SSOW, outage plans and RAMS; ensure BS7671 compliance.
• Lead functional commissioning of electrical assets and manage as-constructed docs.
• Develop Electrical Engineers and build client relationships to achieve project outcomes.
