Electrical Engineer (Facilities Engineer)

Location: Oxfordshire

Salary: £31,000 - £39,000 (depending on experience and qualification)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We're proud to be representing our client, a world leader in injection moulding and plastic components, seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Engineer with a strong electrical maintenance background.

This is a key role within the on-site engineering team, supporting the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems across the facility. The successful candidate will ensure all electrical work is compliant, safe, and aligned with business needs, while contributing to improvement projects and facilities support.

Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose and resolve electrical faults across facility infrastructure and manufacturing equipment.
  2. Carry out routine and planned electrical maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize uptime.
  3. Install, modify, and commission electrical systems and components according to standards and requirements.
  4. Conduct regular testing, inspections, and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with H&S and legal regulations.
  5. Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and testing activities for audits.
  6. Support engineering and improvement projects, especially electrical upgrades or energy efficiency initiatives.
  7. Liaise with and supervise third-party contractors.
  8. Ensure critical spares are stocked for timely repairs.
  9. Provide fault-finding support and technical expertise to production and engineering teams.
  10. Engage in relevant training, including wiring regulations updates (e.g., 18th Edition).
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Recognised electrical qualification such as City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance or facilities engineering within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, fault diagnosis, and maintenance routines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Computer literate, especially with MS Office applications.
Desirable Qualifications
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • IPAF licence
  • ECS Card (Installation Electrician or equivalent)
