PSC Consulting in South Wales is seeking a graduate or early-career Electrical Engineer to join the UK Earthing & Lightning Protection team. You will support the delivery of earthing system studies for HV sites across the UK, participate in site surveys, analysis and design work, and gradually assume more responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Recent graduate or 1–2 years’ industry experience.
• Understanding of the UK electricity transmission and distribution network.
• Able to produce clear technical reports and documentation.
• Experience with earthing studies or site surveys is a bonus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.

The UK team leads our Earthing & Lightning Protection service, focusing on practical engineering, collaboration and solving real world problems that matter.

What you’ll do:

You’ll support the delivery of earthing system studies for new and existing high voltage sites across the UK. You’ll work alongside experienced consultants, getting involved in site surveys, analysis and design work, and gradually taking on more responsibility through time.

Key responsibilities:

• Supporting the delivery of earthing system studies in line with UK standards and DNO requirements

• Taking part in HV site surveys with support from senior team members, including soil resistivity testing, earthing impedance measurements, continuity checks and visual inspections

• Helping to develop earthing system designs from early concepts through to detailed design

• Producing clear, well‑structured technical reports and documentation

• Working closely with colleagues to solve engineering problems and support project delivery

• Supporting project tracking activities such as actions, risks, issues and schedule

Location, travel & site work:

• The role mainly involves a combination of remote working and site-based engineering activities.

• The role is based in South Wales and with this, candidates located in or willing to relocate to South Wales or the surrounding region are likely to be best positioned for the role.

• You should expect to undertake regular site visits and surveys as part of project delivery and depending on project requirements, this may involve occasional overnight stays.

• Site work may include activities such as visual inspections, site surveys, electrical measurements and soil resistivity testing.

• When not attending client sites, you’ll have the flexibility to work remotely, alongside opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in person on a regular basis.

• A full UK driving license and own transport are required.

Experience & skills:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• This role will be ideal for a recent graduate with relevant placement experience, or potentially candidates with 1–2 years’ industry experience

• A developing understanding of the UK electricity transmission and distribution network

• Comfortable producing clear technical reports and documentation

• Any experience with earthing studies or site surveys is a bonus

• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools is helpful

• Good written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail

• Curious, proactive and keen to learn
