Job summary

Sodexo's HMP Northumberland is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to maintain the prison's essential infrastructure, ensuring safety, security and operational efficiency.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, read technical drawings, keep records, work on-call rota, and comply with Health & Safety and all regulations in a secure environment. Recognised apprenticeship, City & Guilds/ONC/HNC, IET 18th Edition, and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.
• Relevant electrical qualification (City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent).
• IET/IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect, test, fault-find, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Complete all work to relevant trade standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Identify and report defective or unsafe equipment.
• Support other FM trades and escort specialist contractors when required.
• Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency call-outs.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, security, and company procedures.
