HV/Protection Electrical Engineer
Location: Devonport (2-3 days a week onsite in Devonport or Bristol office)
Contract Length: 34 weeks
Rate: £53 to £65 per hour (Umbrella, inside IR35)
Clearance: Sole British Nationals only; Minimum BPSS with the ability to upgrade to SC & NNPPI
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled HV/Protection Electrical Engineer to support a major infrastructure project at a naval nuclear site. The role requires an experienced engineer with a background in designing HV switchboards and breakers. The successful candidate will work alongside the Discipline Lead to deliver electrical engineering work packages, ensuring scope, quality, schedule, and cost requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Discipline Lead in delivering electrical engineering work packages.
* Prepare and check designs, analyses, reports, and documentation.
* Support project planning and management activities.
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline (ideally chartered or working towards chartership).
* Experience in HV switchboard design and protection systems.
* Experience in regulated industries (civil nuclear, defence, or highly technical environments).
* Familiarity with electrical building services, including fire detection, lighting, and HVAC.
* Proficiency in project management and quality processes.
Skills and Competencies:
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Strong problem-solving ability.
* Experience managing technical projects through the full design lifecycle.
