Qualifications

Job Description: Electrical Engineer Overview We are seeking a skilled and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The role involves contributing to the delivery of cutting-edge engineering solutions in the field of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design and electrical systems. The successful candidate will apply their technical expertise to design, develop, and refine electrical systems in line with UK engineering standards. Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems as part of large-scale MEP engineering projects in compliance with UK engineering regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors—to deliver comprehensive engineering designs.
  • Create detailed electrical designs and plans, including layouts, schematics, and calculations.
  • Perform load calculations, energy-efficient designs, and assessments to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Ensure designs and installations meet safety, environmental, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to ensure adherence to designs and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to source innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare project documentation and reports, including specifications, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and operational guides.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Support efforts to create a sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative workspace.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in MEP engineering design with a strong focus on electrical systems complying with UK standards.
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools and software such as AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), or similar.
  • Knowledgeable about electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, and energy-efficient designs.
  • Strong understanding of UK electrical codes and building standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within projects and teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional membership or certification (e.g., CEng, IET, or equivalent).
  • Experience with renewable energy solutions and sustainable design principles.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) practices.
Day-to-day
  • Design electrical systems, balancing compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate designs across disciplines.
  • Perform calculations using industry-standard tools to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Review and refine electrical designs to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend site visits to assess installations, troubleshoot issues, and verify compliance with designs.
  • Stay up to date with relevant industry trends, codes, and regulations, introducing innovative approaches to ongoing projects when appropriate.
  • Engage in team meetings and brainstorming sessions that prioritize creativity, inclusivity, and open communication.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to support professional development pathways.
